Vic Preisser

Vic is co-author of the widely read and highly regarded books, Preparing Heirs and Philanthropy, Heirs & Values. In 2009, having spent more than a decade working with families as an executive coach and mentor to heirs for The Williams Group, the nation’s most well known family coaching firm, Vic saw a need for families’ trusted advisors to create awareness among clients of the non-financial impacts of unprepared heirs on successful wealth transfer. That same year, he co-founded Institute for Preparing Heirs where he authored the book, Family Meetings and co-wrote Executors, Trustees & Beneficiaries

 

Carol Sherman
Founder, Managing Director
 

Carol joined the Institute for Preparing Heirs at its inception in early 2009, bringing more than 25 years of experience as a results-driven manager and marketer with strong writing, communications, creative and strategic planning skills. She manages client relationships, oversees the Institute's workshop programs, and the Institute's marketing  and content strategies, and has authored numerous articles on topics of interest to wealth managers. Prior to joining the Institute, she served as Marketing Director for a large national independent mortgage lender where she utilized her team-building skills to successfully lead business development and marketing functions for one of the company's most profitable divisions.

Kathleen Pritchard
National Training Director

Sybil Praski joined the Institute for Preparing Heirs after a 30 year career as a successful financial advisor and founder of her own LPL-affiliated firm. As an advisor she took great pride in helping her clients achieve both their financial goals and their personal aspirations. Always looking beyond managing the money, Sybil was an early adopter of generational wealth transfer planning, embracing the entire family as her client by becoming their Trusted Family Advisor. Sybil experienced the positive impact of helping families prepare their children for inheritance which proved to be a major differentiator in her practice growth and value. Through her work with the Institute, Sybil brings her enthusiasm, insight and a keen understanding of the new opportunities advisors have to differentiate and build their practices by offering new generational wealth transfer planning tools and resources to successful individuals and families.

Kathleen is a dynamic, engaging and passionate speaker with 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, providing advisors with innovative ways to look at their businesses and client bases. As National Training Director for the Institute for Preparing Heirs, Kathleen brings a keen understanding of the new opportunities financial advisors have to differentiate and build their businesses by offering new generational wealth planning tools and resources to successful individuals and families as a Trusted Family Advisor—one who prepares the entire family to thrive and prosper across generations.

Kathleen holds the Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®) certification, the CHARTERED RETIREMENT PLAN COUN­SELORSM (CRPC®) designation, the Certified Fund Specialist® (CFS®) designation and the Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) and Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) designations.

Chris Sherman
Trusted Family Advisor®
  Workshop Speaker

Chris joined Institute for Preparing Heirs in 2013 as CEO, bringing decades of experience leading and managing companies and motivating its personnel.  As a part of that effort, Chris has given hundreds of presentations and motivational speeches, both within corporations and to outside interests.  His focus and experience in working with financial institutions and the wealth management industry has included a wide range of issues including evolving industry trends and understanding the impact of those trends. Today, he speaks on the impacts of wealth transition on generational families and the opportunities for advisors to evolve their practices as a trusted advisor.

 With an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS (with Honors) in Economics from Purdue University, he has also served as a Director on corporate and non-profit Boards.

Tara Butler
Practice Management Coach

Tara Butler, CPCC, PCC is known as “the coaches’ coach.”  She brings to the Institute for Preparing Heirs a passion for helping trusted advisors grow joyous and prosperous businesses. In 2000 she founded her own consulting and coaching practice and has helped hundreds of clients create meaningful, sustainable, thriving businesses. Tara thrives on helping others overcome obstacles and realize their highest potential.  

Tara is a Certified Professional Co-active Coach (CPCC) through The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation.   She is also a graduate of the CTI Coaching Program and CTI year long Leadership Program and assisted the Leadership Program twice with the founders of CTI.  Tara has a B.A. from Kenyon College and a certification in Business from University of Washington.  She is also a contributor to the book “Fresh Start Moments” with best selling author, Bob Danzig.

Gillian Gough
Creative Services Director

Award-winning, marketing creative director, Gillian brings to Institute for Preparing Heirs a career’s worth of branding, multi-platform, and collateral creation for corporate and non-profit clients. At the Institute, Gillian is responsible for designing and producing the Institute's collateral, and brand oversight. She also supervises creation and logistics for the Institute's advisor workshops. Gillain is known for creating visually eye-catching marketing materials with  a clear and consistent visual narrative that gets the message across and leaves a positive impression . . . every time.
